General »   Is there an American Consulate in Iquitos?

    Could someone please let me know if there is an American Consulate in Iquitos? Some guy that owns a bar in Iquitos was telling me that he is the "unofficial" American Consulate in Iquitos and that soon the US Embassy in Lima was going to build an official American Consulate building in Iquitos and that he was going to be in charge of everything.

    Is this guy legit? Can anyone give any information on if there really is (or will be) an American Consulate in Iquitos?
